Summary

The Center for Cell and Gene Therapy (CAGT) at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Methodist Hospital, and Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible adult Hematology/Oncology physician for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This recruitment is for our FACT-accredited adult hematopoietic cell transplant and cellular therapy program

The adult program performs over 200 hematopoietic stem cell transplants and administers more than 70 commercial CAR T-cell therapies annually. Patients are cared for in a purpose-built, integrated inpatient/outpatient Cell and Gene Therapy Unit. The program supports a robust portfolio of more than 20 active investigator-initiated clinical trials under IND and is closely aligned with the pediatric transplant and cell therapy program at Texas Children’s Hospital. Both programs are supported by a cGMP-compliant Cell and Vector Processing Facility for clinical-grade product manufacturing and translational research.

Job Duties

Clinical Care

-Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies
-Evaluate and manage complications including GVHD, infections, and treatment-related toxicities
-Participate in bone marrow harvests for transplant donors
Clinical Research

-Engage in clinical and translational research with opportunities to lead or contribute to investigator-initiated trials
-Participate in protocol development, implementation, and regulatory compliance
-Mentor medical trainees in clinical research
Education and Training

-Educate patients and families regarding treatment options, risks, and care pathways
-Teach and supervise fellows, and residents in clinical settings
Multidisciplinary Collaboration

-Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including transplant coordinators, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other specialists
-Participate in tumor boards, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives
Program Development and Quality

-Contribute to the development of clinical protocols for cellular therapy and transplantation
-Support compliance with FACT, FDA, and other regulatory standards
-Assist in strategic planning and programmatic growth

Minimum Qualifications

-MD or equivalent degree with board certification or eligibility in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology
-Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Texas
-Advanced training and experience in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy
