The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.
Job Summary
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent is responsible for the oversight and support of electrical and instrumentation systems related to the Great Bear Advanced Exploration Project. This position is in place during the construction and development phase to ensure that temporary and permanent E&I infrastructure is installed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with future operational needs. This role also provides direct support for surface infrastructure and operations, including water management, environmental monitoring systems, and surface power distribution systems. Underground development activities, including power installation, and routing, to be conducted by the mining contractor, the E&I Superintendent will oversee and advise on these installations to ensure compliance with standards, safety, and long-term operability.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide oversight and technical input on all E&I work executed by the mining contractor for underground development, including power developing, power distribution, communication infrastructure, and temporary services.
-Review and advise on electrical installations for underground equipment including substations, jumbos, bolters, fans, and refuge stations to ensure compliance with Ontario Electrical Safety Code, R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 854: Mines and Mining Plants, and Kinross specifications.
-Lead and support E&I systems installation and maintenance for surface infrastructure including the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), mine water ponds, pump stations, and the Chukuni Pipeline.
-Oversee instrumentation and automation systems for water treatment processes, flow and pressure monitoring, and environmental compliance.
-Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and vendors to ensure project execution aligns with scope, quality, and safety requirements.
-Coordinate the maintaining of site-wide electrical single-wide electrical single-line diagrams and ensure timely updates and redlining.

-Support surface maintenance programs, including preventative maintenance and calibration of critical electrical and instrumentation systems.
-Advise on winterization protocols and seasonal readiness of remote power and control systems along the Chukuni Pipeline.
-Support commissioning activities such as loop checks, energization, and turnover documentation.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements
Licensed Journeyman Electrician in Ontario, or Electrical Engineer is required. A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in mining or industrial project environments. Experience with underground mine development is required. As well, familiarity with construction project experience and operational readiness is preferred.
-Strong knowledge of Ontario Mining Regulations and Electrical Safety Codes.
-Understanding of medium and low voltage distribution systems.
-Experience with instrumentation calibration, loop checking, and control logic.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance systems (SAP, EAM).
-Working knowledge of AutoCAD or markup tools would be considered an asset.
-Possess Valid Driver's license.
