This is an onsite, full-time Technical Specialist position located in Golden, CO, Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing or overseeing the analysis, administration and oversight of comprehensive policies, programs and practices in area of assignment; provides feedback and guidance to employees and management, using advanced to expert professional and technical knowledge of functional areas or related equipment, testing, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Analyze rock, soil, mine waste, mineral samples using XRD, SEM, and thin section petrography
Follow laboratory protocols
Keep up to date with all protocols
Design and oversee the testing protocols for the analysis of soil, mineral and hard rock samples
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
Interpret test data and produce technical reports
Speak with the customer to explain technical report
Speak with the customer when they have questions
Attend local meetings and conferences
Learn additional testing (asbestos analysis and mold spore analysis)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth Science or a related field (Master's or PhD preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience working in a geological laboratory
Required Knowledge and Skills
Expertise in XRD, SEM/EDS and reflected/transmitted light petrography
Strong data interpretation and writing skills
Proficiency with spread sheets and laboratory analytical software (Excel,Jade9)
Strong understanding of rock/mineral identification and sample preparation techniques
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet customer deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject chemicals, fumes, gasses, noxious odors and related items in a lab and samples setting.
